Improved Body Rigidity

SKAYACTIV engineering principles bring better materials together like lighter aluminum and high tensile steel to improve the rigidness of the body and frame to improve handling, weight less and improve crash safety performance. Not to mention the lighter weight adds to fuel efficiency as well.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Rear cross traffic alert has your back covered. Tight parking spots with restricted visibility are no longer a problem. With sensors that can ‘see’ where your mirrors cannot, if there is approaching traffic from the back corners of the car you will be notified it’s not safe to back out of your spot. Watch the video to see how Rear Cross Traffic Alert works for yourself.

Ultra-High-Tensile Steel

Always striving to be first, another one of Mazda innovation is the incorporation on ultra-high-tensile steel in SKYACTIV body construction. The first auto manufacturer to do so, high tensile steel adds strength to the body, reduced weight and most importantly provides protection in a crash for you and your passengers so you can drive confidently knowing you have the latest safety technology and materials to protect you and your loved ones on the road.

High Beam Control*

Automatically switching between high and low beams, High Beam Control helps you better see and respond to obstacles at night like pedestrians or the animals we all encounter on Alberta highways and rural roads. Check out the video to see High Beam Control in Action.

Blind Spot Monitoring System**

In Alberta we spend a lot of time on the road with such distances between cities. Blind Spot monitoring uses radar to detect vehicles on both sides and alerts you with a warning light in the side mirror on the same side as the approaching car. Watch the video to see it in action.

Adaptive Front Lighting System**

Always see where you are actually going with the adaptive front lighting system. With this feature added to your car headlights detect when you are turning and can automatically angle themselves into the direction of your turn to help you see farther into your turn for obstacles or hazards up ahead. See it in action by watching the video.

Smart City Brake Support**

Smart City Brake Support can detect vehicles up to 6 meters ahead using a near infra-red laser sensor. If there is the high risk of an impact Smart City Brake Support can assist with braking to potentially help reduce the impact. See it in action in the video.

Lane Departure Warning System**

Anyone can get drowsy or distracted on the road once in a while, looking at the mountains too much on one of those long Alberta road trips. While you should always keep your attention on the road and pull over to rest or switch drivers when you are tired, the Lane Departure Warning System can sense lane markings on the road and alert you if you start to unintentionally drift to one side or another. See how it works in the video.

Air Bag Protection

Six air bags are standard on every Mazda 3. Dual front air bags, dual front side air bags, and dual side curtain air bags have you surrounded by safety in case of a collision. Sensor also measure the weight of the driver and front passenger optimizing the inflation pressure for maximum protection.
